These days, pickup trucks seem proficiently adapt to any role. The traditional stumping ground of farm and construction work sites are still the prime domain for trucks but the Swiss Army Knife nature of today’s pickups has allowed us to grow accustomed to seeing them function as family haulers or even performance machines. Under the Dodge brand, the Ram 1500’s 2004 introduction of the SRT-10 powered by the Viper supercar’s V-10 engine made it an irrefutable super truck. While the Ram SRT-10 is a fond memory, the descending HEMI-propelled trucks continue to bask in the performance aura.
An all-new limited release, performance-themed version of the 2016 Ram 1500 pickup truck, the Stinger Yellow Sport provides a flamboyant late spring arrival. Utilizing the 395-horsepower 5.7-liter V-8 powerplant accompanied with an eight-speed automatic transmission, the special edition provides 4×2 and 4×4 Crew Cab models a detailed sport theme.
The 2016 Ram 1500 Stinger Yellow Sport is a difficult sight to miss. If the bright yellow paint color seems familiar, Ram used the same color for the Yellow Rose of Texas Edition 1500 pickup truck introduced in March. Differing from the Made-for-Texas version of Ram 1500, the Stinger Yellow Sport paint translates into a body-color matching front grille and door handles While there is no chrome incorporated in those familiar areas of the Ram 1500 Stinger Yellow Sport, dual exhaust tips do receive the shiny accentuation on this special edition vehicle.
A special hood and large sport wheels added to the Ram 1500 Stinger Yellow Sport greatly sell the performance appearance for the large truck. The vented hood features black sport striping between the two openings acting as an aggressive sport characteristic. Five-spoke wheels mounted to Goodyear Wrangler tires are 22 inches in diameter with the two-wheel drive Ram 1500 Stinger Yellow Sport. Smaller but still muscle car stylish 20-inch wheels are found on the 4×4 version.
Every 2016 Ram 1500 Stinger Yellow Sport limited edition model features a well-appointed interior equipped with features such as 8.4AN Uconnect system with navigation. Appearing largely in black, special touches to the Stinger Yellow Sport truck’s cabin are the use of light black chrome and yellow body-color matching stitching. Leather seats include the Ram head logo use on the front headrests as well as sport mesh on the seat inserts.
The Stinger Yellow Sport version of the Ram pickup truck is the most recent in a line of special edition, limited release models. The 2016 Stinger Yellow Sport version of the Ram 1500 bares a close resemblance to the 2004 and 2005 Rumble Bee. A HEMI-powered, regular cab Dodge Ram available in a Solar Yellow color scheme with a ‘Super Bee’ inspired rear accent stripe, the limited run of the 2004 Rumble Bee was originally quoted at 3,700 vehicles. However, claims were made that production of the special Dodge Ram exceeded the limit. For 2005, 5,000 versions of the Rumble Bee were built. The Rumble Bee name was revived for a two-wheel drive concept model built to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Detroit’s Woodward Dream Cruise.
Only 2,250 examples of the 2016 Ram 1500 Stinger Yellow Sport truck will be sold with starting price of $44,340 including destination charge. The first Stinger Yellow Sport models of the 2016 Ram 1500 are scheduled to arrive at showrooms this month.
